What is a storyboard?

As you can guess i am VERY new to making films but also quite exited. I have a basic idea of what a storyboard is but would like it if someone could give me an exact defintion. Any chance someone could also show/send me an example of one.

This video kind of shows how I usually do my boards. If you look closely, you can see the particular elements like location, characters, and props which are integrated with director's notes like arrows and such. This is pretty standard for a storyboard. The point is to make a storyboard to convey your vision for each shot you plan on making.
