This is my first post on this site so i will talk about a movie i just rewatched; Touch of Evil. Man what a film. If anyone has any doubt that Orson Welles isn't the best director to ever live please watch the 3 minute opening crane shot that traverses a whole town establishing the connection between the main characters while holding suspense. This movie is just a total juggernaut of film. The story may get kind of hokey in some spots but the directing more than makes up for it. There are some scenes in this film in which the camera moves so well and fluently that it even puts max ophuls to shame. The connections between the cinematography and the material, themes, characters and humanity for that matter are all portrayed so brilliantly in the mis en scene you could literally write books on it.

If you havent watched this film and want to become a director i seriously recommend you do.
