The fast looking movements in "28 days later"...how??

Hey.. have you watched "28 days later" and seen how the infected people are moving? It has a special look... I wonder how they make that....does someone know?? What the fast-moving effect is called, and how I can do the same thing?

(I'm using canon xl-1, and I 've tried all the adjustments on the camera...nothing gives the same look ) And I'm using Vegas for editing..

It's the effect of a shortened shutter speed, increasing the strobing effect from shooting fast motion at 24 fps. You can try an extreme setting at first just to see the effect, like going outside in the sunlight and using a 1/1000th setting, if that's possible, or 1/500th.
