The best camera? Tough question..

Sure everyone is going to have a different opinion on this...but I would like to here the pro's and cons.
I want to get a video camera for myself for christmas, just to capture memories, convention, family events and maybe a little fun here and there (music videos ect)

Sadly the most I can spend is $300, so I'm hoping to pick one up used. It would still be nice to know of some really good ones.

This question has probably been asked before, sorry about that. I just want to hear about more recent video cameras.

check out camcorderinfo.com for lots of reviews. maybe you could find an older 3 chip camera, like a gl1, a vx1000, or a pd100, but i think you'd still need more than $300.

I reccomend saving a little more, get up to about 800-900 and get somthing used along the lines of jvc hd1, or a panisonic dvc7, dvc20. If you cant do that, get a consumer cam w/ 3 ccds like the panisonics gs320 and jvc makes one too, but that the way to go,
