on the topic of film schools...
there's a really good film/tv school in Ottawa, Canada, each summer called the Summer Institute of Film and Television, or SIFT. it's the flagship program of the Canadian Screen Training Centre.
anyway, SIFT is a week of workshops led by industry professionals, who run limited enrollment workshops and work one-on-one with students (beginner to advanced). there are directing, screenwriting, acting, producing and camera classes. SIFT 2007 is May 29 to June 3 in Ottawa.
Gary Burns, Leon Marr, Peter Sumpton, Michael Riley (from This is Wonderland), Jefferson Lewis and Elizabeth Yake are workshop leaders this year, among many others.
