Student filmmaker/film team needed!

Film Student Needed!
The Maryland State Boychoir

Looking to finish a film project for school? Or, need another completed project in your portfolio?

We (The Maryland State Boychoir in Baltimore, MD) are looking for a film student to make a short film about our choir! General length is 5-7 minutes. The video is for prospective choristers who may want to audition AND for event planners, churches, or other individuals/groups who may want us to perform. It should show our musicality, excellence in performance, and diligence in rehearsals. Equally as important, it ought to show the quirky brotherhood that is such a large part of the Boychoir.

It should include footage of rehearsals, concerts, and interviews of both choristers and directors. Most importantly, since we are a choir, the sound quality should be great!

The boys in our program range anywhere in age from 7-21. Our program consists of four performing groups: Treble Choir (young sopranos and altos), Concert Choir and Tour Choir, (young and mature soprano, alto, tenor, bass), and Changed Voice Choir (mature, tenors & basses). Between these four groups, the MSB performs approx 80 times per year around Maryland (also occasionally singing regionally and internationally).

Our boys come from all over the state of Maryland, have various ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds, and are united by their love of singing. Overall, the MSB consists of an enormously diverse group of boys who take music very seriously – which makes for a very interesting dynamic in the Boychoir community.

So, if you’re a film student in need of a project for school or looking for something to add to your portfolio, we want you! If interested, contact us at or call us at (410) 554-8644 and leave a message for Kathy or Caleb. We cannot give this project to everyone who is interested, so please be prepared to share information about yourself and show us examples of your past film projects.

(We are a non-profit organization, so this job would be unpaid -- however, if you are a student in need of a subject for your next project, you will find this to be a great opportunity)
