Hi,
i am helping a friend on a project for school.Its a 3min silent clip,i mean no one is talking but all other sounds must be there.Movement,city sounds,people eating,etc.I am a music producer and its quiet challenging to design the sound.Here is my question,
Is it better to record or to design each sound?

Sound design is the selection/creation of sounds to evoke a specific mood and to support or contrast emotional content.

Something as seemingly mundane as footsteps can provide information about a character. An ambience can provide many unseen clues about the environment in which the characters live. The dog bark you choose can make the canine friendly or menacing.

Using stock sounds from libraries can make a project sound canned or cliche; however, there is nothing wrong with using them as building blocks to create something new.

As for myself the creation of new sounds is the fun part of doing sound design work.
