Hey. Anyone know of great SFX libraries that don't cost $585 +? Thanks.

You get what you pay for! There are no "great" Sound FX libraries that are inexpensive.

You can buy by the sound from:

www.sounddogs.com
www.sonomic.com

You can get "free" sounds from:

LJudo - mixed quality, but okay.

The FreeSound Project:

If you use sounds from the FreeSound Project you have to give proper credits. See the usage agreement. BTW, several recent studio releases have used material from the FreeSound Project; I am a contributor and user myself.


If you have a decent mic and a reasonably quiet room you can make your own.

Well, at the academic superstore is all 10 Sony Effect cds for a total of 400, while each set of 5 retails for 300. So, good deal there, and a great (from what I've heard) effects library.
