Simple color correction tips, please! (in iMovie)

I've been working on an animated project for four years now and I am putting the finishing touches to the fine cut.
I have a couple of shots where the outgoing shot is popping or ghosting over the incoming shot.

I really know very little about this end of things and I hope I'm using semi-accurate terminology.
I'm editing in imovie. Could anyone give me some straightforward advice in how to minimise this unfortunate effect with colour correction?

It would be very gratefully received.

The shots are a combination of video and graphics created in Anime Studio Pro.
The files are Apple ProRes 422(HQ).

Here's stills in sequence from the scene causing the bother.
It's probably down to design flaws on may part.
I just wondered if there is a a way to minimise clashing between the outgoing and incoming shots.

For what you are doing this does not look bad. Still now sure about your problem. Can you upload a clip or post one on youtube and embed it here.

Hopefully you can see the flashing or popping of a residual after image in the clip.
It's a result of the clashing of colours and compositions I've used. I just wondered if there would be a way to manipulate and turn it down.

I have question on color saturation and brightness. I have always been struggling with the decision if I should adjust the desired saturation and brightness during camera work on set or later in post production. What is your experience?
