Our first movie

Me and 2 friends have just made our 1st short movie and are looking for some constructive feedback. We don't know anyone in the business, so it's really hard knowing where we're going right and wrong. We decided to enter the firebox film competition that they're running, but it doesn't look like they have a comments section for criticism. If anyone fancies giving us some tips, we would be very very grateful. Our main love is horror, but we're open to trying new ideas. Thanks!

We tried posting it on youtube, but it's gone horribly out of sync! So here's the link on the firebox site.

pretty cool for a first film.

the only thingi picked up on was that your actor clocked the camera once or twice so you break the fourth wall, loosing the sort of magic if you will but apart from that it was cool for a first film

Cheers for the feedback mate. And glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, the actor doesn't have any previous experience, so I guess these things are going to happen at first. We're going to put our heads together and come up with something a bit longer (although definitely no more than 20 mins).

We had to rush that one together in 3 nights. I think we've learned our lesson there. Next time we'll take our time a bit.

Thanks again for giving your opinions. Really appreciated.

no wories any time dude

im just coming to the end of my third short film and they do get better as you go along. this one is an adaptation of the poem the raven by edgar allen poe and its been the trickiest yet. its took 3months from planing to shooting and its only gonna be 10 mins long. we still havent finished shooting and is due in for evaluation in two weeks.

its hard and stressful work but well worth it

when its done i will try and post it somewhere and let you know

Poe did some great work. The raven must be a nightmare to get right, but definitely a worthy pursuit. Never more!

It would be great to see it when you're done. Please do post a link :-)

yeah will do

its been a nightmare i tell you. we have had to cut the poem down so it fits ten minutes and we filmed over three days in 7 locations. it was fun. as soon as we get it on the net somwhere a link will go up
