Hey,

OK, that's enough, on to the hard stuff-

What is so cliche about stylism in editing and shooting. If a filmmaker imitates The Matrix when he or she starts out isn't that kind of like musicians emulating their favorite musician until they acquire their own voice. I ask because I am a newbie and will always be a newbie in this field, and want to understand the evolution of style in this industry. A lot of filmmakers take from someone, and every one takes from the original masters of the art, but now that there are new innovators, how do we learn to innovate without being labeled, especially if we don't have the means as students and independents to hire Hollywood?

Film how you want to film. Do it YOUR. If it happens to be similar to some else's then fuck 'em. And thats all I have to say about that.
