New Camera?

Not sure which camera to get. Definately looking at the panasonic hvx200, but what others compare besides the canon xl h1. P2 cards are expensive. Could afford a few dvcpro hd tapes. Do those tapes lower the quality? Whats the highest quality on mini dv i can get? Sony has mini dv hd tapes. Are they any good? Sorry bout all the questions, but its an expensive purchase and i want to make the best decision, long term and economical.

If anyones used the hvx200 for tape, how does it look?

We've used the Sony miniDV tapes with a HDR-FX1 (I think) in HD 24p and it looked pretty good. I can't say that the picture was that much better than the JVC tapes we've used other times, but I'm still kind of a novice when it comes to this.
