New at Film

Hey guys! This seems like a great forum for new guys at film. I have recently enrolled into The Illinois Institute of Art into their digital film and video production program. Has anyone gone to this school and program? I was also looking at Columbia in Chicago. Any help would be great. I want to begin out making shorts then indies and if I can prove that I truly am a great filmmaker then eventually head out to Hollywood.

Going to a filmmaking school is great, if you need the diploma of course. If you are going to invest your time and money, why don't you think about complementary disciplines like Business Administration, Languages, Writing or Social Sciences. These will expand your knowledge and will help you be a better director if that is what are you looking for.

Remember, studing about the profession we want to pursue is beautyful but there is so much competence in these days that, we need to be more than prepared in the subject. We need to expand our knowledge, our vision of the world. We need to be the best.

My grandfather told me once, "if you are going to do something, do it right or do nothing". Today, I live by this principle and try to do the best with all my heart in all my affairs.

I hope this gives you a better perspective.
