need help??

hi ...

i am new to this site...and i need help...

i have been using Final Cut Pro (ver 4.5) for the past several months...but right now have using final cut express (while editing a short film for a friend)...

the problems are many...

1. i have been trying to capture footage into an external hard-drive...and even after making the necessary adjustments in the "system settings" (changing the scratch disk settings), i haven't able to capture the footage using the "capture now" option...it works with capture clip, but that seems too long...

2. i am still logging clips, and soon will begin editing...but the error message "cannot open project file" (for a saved project), is really frustrating...

is there someone out there who can offer some helpful suggestions...

well I dont know how much help I can be BUT, just need to know a few things before I can help.

You say that the files are on a external hard drive. Is this HDD USB or Firewire.

Next... if you havnt started the project yet, open the hard drive up... find your omf files and just drag them into a new Bin in Final Cut. This will re-import them into the program... then Save-as and you should be ready to go without any problems.

You cant Capture files from a Hard drive but you can Import them.... see the import option.... anyway the easy way is to drag and drop your clips into a new bin in a new project. Makes it clean and simple.

besides that, I dont know what else to do... take screen shots and post them!

if mac its Apple key+Shift+4 to make a screen... I think.. lol
