NEED HELP!!! DROPPING FRAMES during capture and more

Hi there,

I'm not being able to digitize anything because it is dropping frames.
I've cleaned up the hard drive, have more than 45 free GB in the internal HD and more than 200 free GB on the external. I used to be able to digitize, but all of a sudden it stopped.
I have a G4, dual 867.
I erased the internal HD, re-installed FCP HD, changed setup, preferences, system setup and nothing....
I am not able to edit what is in the computer either, it freezes, drops frames as well.
Needles to say I can't print to tape either.

Can you help me?

Many thanx,
VB

Have you just started using the external hard drive? If so, go back to using internal drives only. That is my only suggestion for now but I will give it some more thought. JT

#1 make sure you have enough RAM

#2 Tim's right... go back to using your internal HD, externals are shit for capturing & editing... great for storage

#3 If your still dropping frames... try capturing from a "non controlable device"... you'll have to operate your camera manually, but it may work out for you

#4 if none of that solves it, then your tape recording, is either bad, or your camera needs it's heads cleaned...

Best of luck!
