Mystical/inviting lighting for a tree ext. day

Hi there,
Can anyone help? Im to shoot scenes where a child looks at a tree and its beautiful, mystical, magical, inviting - but only in his point of view. How does one achieve this effect? I was thinking put a filter, perhaps promist, onto the lens (using a Sony DSR 500 cam) and hope that it turns out to be a sunny day. Any other ideas?

Backlighting tree's bring out the texture and create a beautiful mystic look in my opinion so you want to time the shot when the sun in behind the tree or get an angle where it is behind.
