Making mini DV quality look more like film.

I plan on filming and action short that I wrote. But iIam limited by using mini DV tape. I was wondering if there is a non costly software out there or somthing else I can do to enhance the quality of the fottage to make it look more like film.

there is this software called magic bullet but is very expensive like 700 dollars. another one is called cinelook.
