Just got the August issue of the magazine

I just got the August edition of Student Filmmaker magazine and I must say I am very impressed. I think the article about keeping a "Video sketchbook" is brilliant. I've always thought that filmmakers, like artists, must do sketches and studies in addition to their larger projects. Writing pages and pages of script doesn't really do the trick. You must experiment with the camera, with the editing. With the advent of MiniDV filmmakers now have the opportunity to experiment and try new things with film at very little cost. I wish I would have thought of the video sketchbook idea. I myself am going to start one right away. . .
