I have a question

I am planning to shoot my first film next summer. Is it too early to start looking for funding? Also where are some places that I could look for information about funding?

hey marie,
its really never to early to look for money with financing an indie film. you just want to make sure that before you actually present your plan, you have it all put together in a marketable way. As far as info about funding, i would definately do plenty of research. Read some good books on financing and how to write the appropriate business plan, try and contact an accomplished or experienced producer that can give you some pointers. I know of some good books but im not sure if im allowed to post names of books here. PM me if you would like any suggestions. good luck!!

dsThe foundation for your funding is in your "Pitch." Creating a short under 2 minute pitch with your film visually described is the first ingredient for funding. Next is a great proposal, again visually written so as you read you can visualize the film. These two elements are the basis for funding. Once you have these tools you will find your percentage of requests to the number of people interested in funding are increased considerably.

Welcome to the forums Carole :)
This is great information you're sharing.
Truly appreciated.

Yep! Great advice in creating a two minute short or 'pitch' for your film so investors can actually 'see' what you are trying to achieve.

Get on the internet and start asking people around if there are any grants or trusts or anything like that. Talk to local universities. Get online and research. Talk to your state and local film commissions. There are a million places to find funding, you just have to look for them.
