How to make sci fi glass HUD

Anyone know how to make a glass display with glowing lines on it like the one pictured here?

I'm pretty sure it's not cgi...at least, not the glass. It's possible that the green lines are dropped in digitally, but I know the effect can be done physically...

...it has been a mainstay of such war rooms since the late 70s at least.

Gotta be an easy way to get this to work...
