Come up with a name, get a lawyer, and have them register your company. Then comes all the paperwork involved, like PAYE Schemes, tax books, and all that other junk. Or you could do what most people do and just develop projects under the name only. But actually register. And always, always, ALWAYS become a limited company! Then you are safe in case anything happens, because on paper you are not your company. But you can still own the company.

LTD is only an abbreviation for Limited... or Limited Liability Company (LLC.)

This is what WastedTime was talking about... if/when the time comes to incorporate... this is one of the best choices... as it protects you from liability... which in today's lawsuit happy world, is a very important thing.

you probably will want to hire an attorney. but i think you can look it up online on a search engine and get the forms and instructions from a form your own corporation site.

When you incorporate... which you will need either a CPA or an Attorney to do properly... you can choose to abbreviate LTD instead of LLC.
