How do I become a screenwriter?

If I want to pursue screenwriting as a career, what do I need to do? What are the steps that I should follow? Do I have to start by coming up with my own script and idea and try to sell it to agents and producers? If so, where do I find these agents and producers?

First, you need to learn how to write a script. Then, you need to write your first script.
Then, you need to ask for feedback for your script. There are many writer communities out there, you just need to find one that is right for you.

The easiest way would be to find screenwriting contests. Write a script for those contests and it could help you get some exposure.
