I ran across this quote the other day and thought it to be very apropo: Hollywood does not buy good ideas. They buy great stories.
I thought about this and I feel that it is very true. Everybody who knows I'm a writer always tells me that they have a "great idea." I always ask them, "well, what's the story?" What can I say? I dash people's dreams lol!
Seriously, though, I don't remember who said it, but it just seemed to convey what I tell people who want to write for movies and television. Even though I'm not Hollywood, I think that's true. We can each have a zillion and one ideas a minute. But good movies are not built on good ideas. Good movies are built on great stories.
Thoughts?
