Help with frozen in air shot....

Ok have you ever scene the commercials where everything freezes except one person and he take the frozen items out of the air.... what would be the best way to approach this situation?

Ok, i got some information

In the special feature of the <HEROES>SEASON 1
the se supervisor shows the scene which Hiro frozen
the time to save the little Japanese girl

every thing was frozen but Hiro
because everyone in the street were just "freezing"
by them self. And some guy ride on a bike was just
Fixed by some green stuff...for keying in the post-production
So, the cameraman just take the steadicam and follow
Hiro for the shoot, just like a "freezing world"

And the stuff float in the air was made by CGI

so my advise for low-budget student film which want
to get this effects... keep breathing and don't move

shoot the same shot twice with a camera on a tripod. One for everything that will freeze, the other for the person that will stay in real time.

Import the footage of both into aftereffects, put the footage that you want to freeze on the top layer, have it time remap at the part you want to freeze or you can have it as a still and mask the objects so the character in the bottom layer can be seen and will be able to walk behind the objects.
