Film newbie... need advice on how to get started

With regard to 16mm cams,

I've researched that the Aaton super 16, or "A CAM S16" is pretty nice...
Matty Libatique has suggested using it if 35 isn't attainable for initial aquisition.

Any opinions...:?:

I don’t know much about aaton cameras but I did use a aaton standard 16mm camera once for an indi we shot I will have to admit I had a very difficult time loading the mag its very similar to the eclair cameras my preference for super 16 is the arri sr3 its a great camera and very easy to use.

I like reading the old topics here in the forums and seeing how much things have changed over time. This thread was started before the HDSLR craze and the RED camera and now we have the new Sony cameras with the external recording/monitor devices.
