Hey

My name is Marty, i am at the NZ Broadcasting school, 2nd year of a degree. Just wondering if you could give me some hints. I am on a shoot and i am DPing for a scene which involves shooting interior shots within a car that is suposedly giong to be going through a tunnel, but really shot in a studio i am wondering how you would go about this. I was thinking of maybe moving lights, but i wouldn't have a clue how to pull that off. We are shooting it in a couple of days so i have only a little bit of time to prepare for it. Any ideas would be swell, thanks.

Moving lights is not too hard -- just have some people on ladders holding small lights (like tweenies or 1K's) wave them over the car. Usually you find a way of dimming or switching off the light (or panning it into black) to return the light to the forward position (so the light travels from front to rear.) I used to have a small quartz movie light (a 650 watt) on a small broom handle to wave around for such shots.

The trick is the background -- it would be odd to have a pitch black background in a tunnel with overhead lights, so it's hard to fake that in a static car.
