This weekend Im planning on finishing up my short, and planned to concentrate on the filming of an interior scene. I planned to light it with a Lowell DP kit (containing two dp heads and one omni) and a set of 3 tota lights. My college's equipment office, howeever, canceled the totas. I'm shooting on 16mm negative stock (Double-X).

My question is, given the amount of light, do you think my image is going to suffer for it? I doubt it will too much if any, given the greater latitude of negative and the higher asa value (as compared to my shooting previously with Tri-X and Plus-X reversal). I'm just seeking a second opinion. Worse case scenario I can just stick to close and medium shots, not shoot any wide or establishing.

Thanks

Someone will post a more flushed out reply, but I am running out right now.

Essentially you don't really have the problem of "enough" light, it is shaping and using that light to create an image that helps tell your story.

The quantity of light should be fine. Now, how do you plan on controlling it?

My big problem with a lot of the Lowell stuff is that it just goes everywhere.

The stock you are shooting is on the grainy side, so if you are trying to avoid that you will want as "snappy" a negative as dramatically possible. Stay away from midtones.

With b&w creating depth and separation is important, thus keep that in mind when working with your equipment.

Sorry I can't write a more through answer at the moment.
