Distances Of Lighting Equipment

This question has been bugging me for a long time. Is there any exact way to know the distance of light a particular piece of equipment puts out? I mean, I know a 10K is perfect for lighting the side of a house or building, but exactly how "much" light dose that 10k cover exactly? Is there any sort of formula or "rules of thumb " when it comes to these things?.

Come on, nobody knows? there has to be some way of knowing the distance and radius of of a piece of lighting equipment related to its assigned wattage....There HAS to be!

Help! Mr.Mullen.Help!

LOL!

There is photometric data for different lamps for distances and spot or flood configurations, from the manufacturers. It's not a completely foolproof way of figuring things out but it's a starting point. Also look at this:

QUOTE:
Light Shop is Rosco’s new Windows™ based software tool for lighting designers. It calculates and displays photometric information for most lighting instruments used in theater and television. The heart of the program is an online library of manufacturers’ photometric data for hundreds of different lighting instruments.

Much thanks to you Mr. Mullen and to Mr. Blair Brown. I have one other major question left, but I'll be posting that in the camera section instead. Once again I thank you. :D
