Diffused Background Lighting

Hi

I was wondering what I can use to achieve an effect similar to this image for the soft diffused background lighting.

Im shooting with dedo's and am trying to find some material to give this effect (unfortunately location will not let me use a haze machine).

Is there a sheer material that will get this effect?

Smoke would be the best method. If there were a large enough frame of a super transparent diffusion material, but probably you'll have to go for a large frame with a net scrim on it (double or single), which has the effect of blurring the background. Just make sure the frame of material is out-of-focus behind the subject.
