A healthy volunteer in Seattle is the first person in the U.S. to receive a dose of an experimental coronavirus vaccine as part of a new clinical trial, government health officials announced today (March 16).

Over the next six weeks, researchers plan to enroll 45 participants in the trial, which will test the safety of the vaccine as well as its ability to induce an immune response in the volunteers. The trial will take place at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) in Seattle.

different experts based on computer modeling of SARS-Cov-2 in different countries of the world say we are between 3 to 5 weeks behind Italy regarding how many new cases there will be and need to take care of the sick- so for US figure late April cases of sick will go up and the hospitals will be stressed- May will be a bad month for this- things "might" be close to normal in late June. We'll have to see how long Italy stays under quarantine/lockdown for before they release everyone on the streets again. For the governments involved its a delicate balance of how long to keep people indoors vs the damage this is doing to the economy and all types of businesses going bankrupt vs the loss of GDP from the mortality rate going up vs the likelihood of new regional hot spots/case spikes if they release people outside too early and infected start coughing on everybody again. -Most young people will do OK with this. the mortality rate for this in Italy for 80+ is 10% and for 70+ is 7%. -around 0.1% or less for healthy people in their 20's. experts are worried-rightly so- that young adults and little kids asymptomatic will give to older people- some of whom will get very sick. We need to test hundreds of thousands-millions of people for this asap- like weeks ago- to get better control of this. -JCL

I am pretty sure the issues with Italy are not the same as America. Demographics and social behavior are things to be considered. They might not be licking religious shrines as seen in Iran but they do things like kiss and eat together in differnt ways than Americans do as well as the fact Itally is listed as the population with the oldest people demographics. I think each country is going to have it's own rate based on the culture, age and how well they follow health professional recomendations.

Yes kim a challenge sounds great, what a great idea to keep our creative film minds busy during these kind of out breaks. Perhaps a 60 second challenge of genre , but what?.. so many choices.
