Blue Screen and Miniatures

We are recreating a demolition scene from the Irish land war of the 19th-century and we are doing it on a micro-budget. We would like to know if anyone has had experience combining miniatures and live-action with blue screen. The scene also involves a crowd of extras and several horses.

Attached are reference images of what we are trying to recreate. We would love to hear from anyone who has some tips to share.

I’ve had some experience with this sort of thing. The important thing for you to decide is do you want the miniatures in the background or foreground? That will determine where you place the blue screen. If you have a good location you can shoot that first, then the miniature destruction on blue screen, then the actors on blue screen. Just think of it in terms of layers.
