Hi,
I'm about to by a mac book pro, and I will undoubtedly need a FWD for extra storage. I've been looking at Lacie drives but I'm scared to purchase because I saw some poor reviews online. Are there any other reliable ones? Does anyone use Lacie and think they're good? Can you recommend me a reliable one with most storage capabilities?

Thanks!

Honestly, I haven't had any problems with my Lacie drives, and I've had them for 2 and 4 years respectively. I'd stay away from Iomega drives (we're having trouble with those at work). Just make sure the drives spin at 7200RPM at the least.

Yeah, I've used Lacie drives for DV editing with no problems.

Thanks Guys :p

LaCie Big Disk Hi-Speed Compact 1TB USB2.0 Hard Drive ( 300966U )

Lacie 640GB Big Disk HD Extreme

There's an Amazon sale going on on these drives. But I don't know what this stuff means. Which is the better of the two? Or if you know of something newer and better.

Well, it's not a matter of better, it's a matter of bigger.

The 1TB (standing for one terabyte) is much bigger than the 640GB (or Gigabyte) drive. So, in this case, bigger is likely better (bigger size=more video on the drive).

Have fun.
