So I will be shooting a music video next week with a 4 piece band using my Sony VX2100. I have a studio recorded master audio track (from the band) that I plan to overlay the video in post. I plan on having the master track play on a PA system and have the vocalist sync up to the track this way it matches in edit. Now I've done some research and found out that CD tracks are recorded at 41000khz or something like that, and if I shoot the audio wont match up because it is different on a video camera.

My question is, is this true? Is there a way I can set the audio to record at 41000khz on my camera? And are there any other problems I can run into?

thanks! any help is appreciated.

CDs use 16-bit 44,100 Hz audio, video uses 48,000 (or even 96,000) Hz and 24 bits. Use Audacity, the free cross-platform audio editor, to convert among those formats.

oh okay cool, i have audacity. so just take the audio track and convert to 16bit 44100hz. thanks.

if anyone else has any input feel free to drop.
any more advice on sound?

The other question is what are you editing with? Many programs will allow you to automatically convert the sample rate of audio that doesn't conform to project standards. (In Avid, for example, you can drop in a 44100 track into a 48000 project and you can set the project to automatically conform the sample rate. With a high-speed processor you can hear this without rendering, with a lower-speed processor you might need to render it first.)
The other option within Avid is to have the program automatically convert the sample bit -rate and -depth on importing it into the project. Look around your editor's options and see if it gives you this option, 'cause it highly beats converting it through a program like Audacity first.

im editing with adobe premiere pro 2.0.
i'll look around the program, but all i need is for the lip syncing to match with the master track, i shouldn't have any problem if the vocalist is syncing to the master track as well. unless the recorded video is off which it shouldn't

hope this isn't to confusing haha! any help is appreciated.
