Hey, Im currently in production of a 20 minute band documentary, and am curious if Pro Tools is suitable for editing sound for my project. We have alot of music and audio from interviews and various places, and need software that will adequately edit that. Myself and my co-producer are both using mac platforms for our documentary and of course, final cut as our video editing software. We can probably use soundtrack (not sountrack pro) if we wanted to, but i was wondering if pro tools would work as well.

I have an m-audio sound card, which means I can purchase pro tools m powered for 300 dollars or the academic version for 150. Im thinking of purchasing this software irrelevant of weather or not I can use it for my documentary, but im just curious if pro tools is suitable for editing sound for a documentary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Of the four that you listed in your poll Pro Tools or STP are probably more suitable for your needs.

There is no "best" software, the best software is the one that fits your budget and your workflow.

i am curently using pro tool for a project and it deals well with multiple audio layers. When i say multiple i mean like 70 at a time so its my preference
