All media movie files suddenly offline

I finished my movie last night, albeit the creidts, and when I opened Final Cut this morning, all my movie files were offline and deleted from my hard drive (I checked, my hard drive space had 10 extra gigabytes).

Help! I'm not sure what to do or how this happened! I have the two tapes with footage, but I'm not sure how I can make Final Cut recognize and perfectly insert them into my offline clips...

When I tried to do batch capture, it gave me a timecode error.

I have a deadline coming soon, can someone please help?

Did you check in the Capture Scratch folder in your FCP Documents to see if the media is indeed missing? If it is, try re-capturing one of your scenes again just to make sure that the time code error is only not enough pre-roll time on the first scene. If I think of anything else, I will post it here. Best of luck. JimT

Here is another thought. Pulled this off of FCP support site. It is another reason to recapture individually instead of via batch:

Timecode breaks occur when a tape is started or stopped while it is being recorded, and a gap appears in the timecode track. This can happen if the camera is powered off while being used in the field, or for any one of a number of other reasons. Timecode breaks do not appear after every shot, but they are not infrequent in typical source material. You may be tempted to record long video clips when logging tapes and capturing material in Final Cut Pro, but the danger in doing so indescriminantly lies in the possibility of capuring a clip with a timecode break somewhere within it.

When this happens, the timecode of the clip is incorrect, resulting in an incorrect offset of the timecode starting at the point of the clip where the timecode break occurred. Video clips with this error can not be recaptured, which can cause significant difficulties. Final Cut Pro warns you of this, but in the case of a large batch capture, it may be difficult to determine which clip is at fault.
