In addition to being a regular contributor to SF Magazine and its website, Fred Ginsburg has been managing his own educational website about Production Sound Recording (location recording) for decades. It has served as an online coursebook for a few universities, and is a training guide used by some guilds and unions. Now that Fred has officially retired as a professor and sound mixer -- he has made special arrangements to lower the subscription fee to a token five bucks (lifetime) in order to make the website even more accessible to students, former students, and the sound community. Why not completely free? It has to do with intellectual property rights of the contents; there are still contractual agreements in force, in addition to copyright protections which become almost impossible to enforce when said materials are openly given away for free.
