Hello,
I have a question. I am currently online editing a SD project on Media Composer. My original beta sp is 4x3 and has 1.66:1 mask on it. It was shot on Super16. I put 16x9 mask on the 4x3 1.66 letterboxed image and now 1.78:1 letterboxed 4x3. I am thinking of outputting it to 16x9 on DVD so it plays nicely on widescreen TV and for possible HD upgrade. So, I added "resize" to stretch the image area to 4x3 in order to get it de-resized to 16x9 when I export to quicktime or done resized to 16x9 in the DVDstudiopro. However, my professor told me that "resize" would soften the image so I should avoid doing it. Is it true? Is there any way to make the 4x3 letterboxed image to 16x9 non-letterboxed image without soften the image? Or what would be the best workflow for me to achieve this? I really don't want to go back to negative to re-telecine because I simply cannot afford it... Thank you for your help in advance.
