The Asian American Club Martial Arts Short Film

I just used my own Canon ZR300, hahaha. It's not a great camera at all. The only money spent was for stuff like dinner and snacks while we were holed up in that warehouse. The warehouse belongs to my good friend's family, so we didn't have to pay to rent it or anything.

The Asian American Club Martial Arts Short Film

Uhhhhhhhhhh... Uhhhhhhhhhh... With all of the practices and choreography experiments added on, it took about 4 months. As for the short itself, after having to restart from scratch when our original location was botched, it us about 2 weeks to shoot the entire thing spread out over 5 or 6 days.

    College/Film School advice

Well... Well... Where you are located could possibly be a bit important too. What major cities do you live near? Temple University in Philadelphia, for example, isn't too costly, and the film program is reportedly solid, but if you're thousands of miles away, then it might not be worth it.

    180 rule for fights?

Clothes Clothes It also definitely helps to dress opponents in clothes that contrast greatly with each other in order to make characters easy to identify even if you do break the 180.

    Smoke Effects

Screening Screening You can also use the screening option that a lot of editors have and just layer in smoke effects over your footage. Detonationfilms.com has lots of free footage you can use for that.
