I'm trying to blend two stories into one about my two characters but I dunno if it would confuse the reader if each story is set two years apart. But they meet up with eachother in there parts of the story. would it work?

I'm wanting to make a short thriller and I thought it would be cool if it was in Black and White with a German Cinematic look to it.... Would it work? Thanks..
