Hi Michael, I'm In Argentina and I don't know the costs od these recorders where you are but the Zoom H4n is the best one (here U$S 600). the other option is an adapter (BeachTek, etc) in order to connect microphones to your camera but you need an adapter that can disable the AGC function...
