pretty cool for a first film. the only thingi picked up on was that your actor clocked the camera once or twice so you break the fourth wall, loosing the sort of magic if you will but apart from that it was cool for a first film

to be honest i would go with mini DV just due to the fact that you can record an hour a tape and most hard drive cameras dont do longer than 15 mins

get an old school cap gun and get a drill and drill through the barell and fire it so the flash and smoke should be propelled down the barell. just dont stand your "target" to close

it all depends on personal preference. If you can do a good job with the tools you have got why change. if it aint broke dont fix it

i have used car headlights and they aint great. for outdor night lighting try HSS hire shops and use a generator and building site lights. its relatively cheap to and works great however the generator can be quite loud. However never use the generator indoors as its very dangerous
