Best way to cut video to music? video for school event

Lay down your music first (obviously, since it's going to be driving your editing). If you have multiple shots/angles for the same part of the music then I suggest using FCP's handy multiclip feature. It allows you to edit between angles in real time just by clicking on icons in the viewer. Once...

    COPYRIGHTS

I believe that to register a script with the Library of Congress you need a final draft (or resend it with the next draft which means another fee, $45 I think...) I think the WGA is more forgiving though and you can keep submitting multiple drafts without separate registration fees. (Someone...

tips on raising money for a short

Wow, a big budget high school film! My suggestion is to sell something like T-shirts to raise money. There are a bunch of sites you can send designs too and they'll put them on shirts for you. I don't know how close that'll get you to your budget mark (gosh...) but it might help.

I made a short film noir film two years ago and what I did to make it as close to the spirit of 40's film noir was get high contrast lighting, fedora hats, and a story that used some 1940's gangster films lingo. I suggest you watch a couple of the film noir greats (you probably have seen these...

FCP 4.5 HD: Exporting as Quicktime Movie (Newbie question)

This is what's supposed to happen for a quick time file made in FCP. Just make sure you checked "self contained" and it'll work fine (but know that it'll still have that icon).

    What and When?

Boom mic is almost always better than a wireless mic (lavelier mic), probably because it can get a clearer shot at the actor. I'm just starting to work with lav mics and I hate them. They're so touchy and hard to get used to. If you're trying to choose between a boom mic and a liv mic then I say...

    buying a video camera...help plz

Panasonic GS35 Panasonic GS35 I have to suggest the Panasonic GS35. It's the camera I've had for almost a year. It's reliable, had no problems, looks cool, and is very comfortable to hold (some people may not realize how important it is to have a "comfy" camera). They run for about $299-400.

    1940's props???

I guess this post belongs here- it's about props. I'm woring on a film set in the 1940's (the script was just finished) and I'm trying to find a place to buy/rent some props (preferably on the cheap end as this is a low budget student film!). Can anyone give some suggestions? Thanks.

    Writing Drama

That's a very broad question! "What is drama?" Drama (to me at least) is any script that isn't a comedy. Pretty much every script has elements of drama in it. It may not all be watery eyes kind of drama, but drama anyways. To keep people from getting bored I think the number one thing is to...
