    What is your Screenwriting approach?

I am not opposed to the three act structure. Some people use five act or even four act structure. I think of 3 act structure as the Set up, build, pay off scenario of a story. Act 1 is the set up, Act 2 is the Build and Act 3 is the Pay off. My issues is with story paradigms, as stated...

    Why I Joined

Unfortunately filmmaking takes up a massive amount of time. you could practice doing montages to get your cinematography down. For editing software, start with free software. GoPro has a free software for editing, also check out Hit Film and BlackMagic Divinci Resolve Lite (all free, the...

    Why I Joined

If you're afraid your parents won't let you, then try asking them if you can try out a new hobby. As far as friends, just ask them if they want to help you make a short movie on a weekend or after school at your house. The beauty of filmmaking is that it is collaborative, so don't order your...

    Why I Joined

Starting young! Awesome. I would definitely say start with a short. If you really want to up your game I would recommend trying to make 30 sec or even 15 sec videos as practice, heck why not try 6 sec. See how much story you can pack into that small space. It will be less daunting and when...

    CONNERY | A Short Film

Looks great. Some suggestions would be to cut the opening scene a little shorter. Get to the sugar in the coffee a bit sooner and just a tighten up on the rest. It takes a little too long for me to get to the point of what is happening. Great job though. The cinematography looks great and...

Web series shot on Canon 60D

Good luck! The 60D is a workhorse. Great camera.

    Film Directors Role

It is funny that the "Director" and "Producer" are two roles that people get the most confused about what they do. In the indie world the lines often cross more than when there is enough money to hire all the crew needed. Did a video on the subject...

    Web series festivals

The NY TV film festival might be worth checking out since it is a series. You also might want to use withoutabox.com or filmfreeway.com to find something, they usually have a decent amount of info on what to expect from the festivals. Also check out indiefilmhustle.com, I believe they have a...

    Feedback on film project title

I like Trunkof16mm. It has a life beyond just what is in the Trunk - it could have all sorts of stories that come out of it. The "mm" indicates that it is motion picture film, it adds to the uniqueness of it. Just my thoughts.

at least you started. A lot of people just talk about the idea and never go past that.

I am tired of having my time wasted!

It does suck. The one thing that I have seen that works - and don't get me wrong, this is a lot more work than the massive amount you are already putting in - is to make your own opportunities. If you are desperate to act, then why don't you try producing a project on your own. That way, you...

    What is your Screenwriting approach?

I recently had a bit of an intense discussion with someone on YouTube about screenwriting and story paradigms. I don't have the traditional perspective on the value of story paradigms create by the likes of Robert McKee, Blake Snyder, John Truby, etc. I'm curious to know what is the go to...

Camera Survey - what camera do you use

My workhorse is a Canon, but if I have a bigger project I usually rent something and that ends up being either a RED, possibly an Arri

    Editing software

I forgot out BlackMagic - that is definately a great one to check out and you get a super super good color grading program to go with it.

    Editing software

I would recommend checking out HitFilm that is free or at least the express version is and includes some FX options. I do prefer Adobe but I know how it can be hard to afford the monthly cost even at a student rate without going in debt. Check out HitFilm, FilmRiot did a whole short and some...

HDfilmfest offers distribution? Is this real?

I looks to me like it is just another festival to submit to, not saying that it is bad. A breakdown of what they are saying. You pay them money to submit your film for consideration. They guarantee they will give you feed back. If you don't make it then that is it. If you do then they...

I'm a beginner and I want to know some information

I would start by making some shorts. That is really a great place to get experience as well as exposure, especially with YouTube. If you post on YouTube or Vimeo or a similar site you are in essence creating an International Film. It really is about building a community to work with as...

    Script Consulting

I would start by going through IMDbPro and finding movies that are similar to yours, look for the production company that was associated with the film and call them up (the contact info should be listed on IMDbPro). Start by asking for the acquisition department or development and tell them you...
