Anyone check out the new Nikon D810 36.3-megapixel

Nikon doesn't go out of their way to publish video data rates...historically they've been more aggressively compressed than Canon...who has a I-frame recording option in the newest products.

    AJ-PX270 camcorder - newsbyte

The selection of small form factor/small sensor cameras is pretty impressive these days. Panasonic's tradeoff with this camera is that the ability to record an amazing array of formats (which helps a videographer/DP get hired as the diverse client roll call in the article indicates) comes at a...

Is it time to go 4k?

It's not really all that "early"... And...a small but important point, 4096x2160 is DCI 4K...3840x2160 is UltraHD (1920x2 by 1080x2). In Digital Cinema circles it matters, much like HD vs 2K. The other distinction that gets lost in this discussion often is that 4K or UHD frame size is a...

    Go Pro Competitor

Don't know...I hear about them. Contour cameras are fairly well-known. Replay is lower priced...they were all over the NAB store. JVC seemed to have made their "Adixxion HD" cameras and hid them under a rock, but they're around... Papago sort of started as in-car driving cams for...

Panasonic DVC 100b, is is still the top of the line?

Do you mean the DVX 100b? ...and you'll have to define "top of the line" for you. A 4,000.00 USD standard definition videotape camcorder that was introduced in 2005 wouldn't probably jump to mind for anyone in the production industry based on the description. There was an HVX 100 that was...

    What editor do you use?

A Google search will bring you a wealth of the endless comparisons and religious arguments... Every forum including this one has threads where users go back and forth over which is best. Perhaps you might think about what it is that you do with an editing system and that way at least the...

Editing in premiere pro cs5 ,transfering files between mac and pc?

Did you rewrap through FCP, or are you using the camera files? XDcamEX is mpeg2 in an MP4 wrapper natively. If the camera footage has been unaltered, that material should travel back and forth .

Editing in premiere pro cs5 ,transfering files between mac and pc?

SDHC cards are not a video format.... How about the video format from the camera? Edit Codec? Wrapper (quicktime, mxf, avi, etc)?

Need to know some info about the project...type of media, etc.

    What editing software to use?

:-) Uh..yeah...in 2002...with our transition away from what was then a very temperamental OSX that couldn't even run FCP until the second release and some really quirky G4s.

    cheap editing software

The product called Avid Studio is actually a pretty stout program...lots of capabilities and codec support for around 150 USD...but that's Windows. On Mac you can use iMovie and probably be just fine. FCPX for all it's warts will probably catch on quite well for the student/enthusiast user...
