Hello.... i'm still a n00b in terms of post count here, but i've been reading for a while.

anyways, on to the question. I am interested in purchasing an HVX in the coming few months. It would be used for filmmaking, but also wedding videography (gotta pay for it right?). So, my question is, "is there a way to get the beautiful HD footage from the HVX on to some sort of DVD that could play on something besides a computer? (i've read you can burn a WMV file in HD or something, i think...) I know there are no HD-DVD burners out yet, what are the alternatives? if any?"

thanks ahead of time...

My own experience is that I've had to "downconvert" my HD footage to a standard definition DVD. Although it isn't HD anymore, the end result is still far better than if you had shot plain old SD.

My downconverted DVDs still look decent on a HD television set. I say go for it! :)

I use the HVX200/FS-100 combination every day. It's a beautiful camera when you learn to use it properly. For weddings, I'd not recommend it. You'll have to shoot DV on tape, or figure a work flow for offloading P2 cards all night long, or use an FS-100 in which case I'd STRONGLY suggest going shoulder or belt mount with a DV Mulit-Rig Pro. It's not good in low light. I don't recommend it for wedding work unless you do a lot of pre-planning and testing of your rig and workflow.

Our industrial, commercial, educational, and Indie work we do looks great on regular SD DVDs, much better than if we had shot in SD DV.
