Wind

I would like to shoot a scene in a park for a short sci-fi/experimental video, and want it to be noticeably windy. Asside from waiting (possibly indefinitely) for natural wind, does any one have any recommendations for producing wind? I know the obvious answer would be to use a fan, but like I said, it's in a park, and I doubt there are any electrical sockets anywhere, not even in the vicinity of an extension cord.

John,

you have two options as I see it:

1) build a huge hand held fan like the type the pharaohs forced their slaves to use to keep them cool..use huge posterboard.

2) buy a portable car battery jump starter from an auto store. they're meant to jumpstart a dead battery, but the decent ones also have an AC adapter to plug stuff in. You charge it overnight and it'll give you some decent power for a couple of shots..then you have to buy a huge fan to make the wind!

you could always get a bunch of PA's to come and on cue, tell them when to blow...haha...sorry. but honestly ill have to agree with mark on this one.
