What Is the Most Overlooked Step in Pre Production?

The Last Black Unicorn
Hello filmmakers,

I have a question for everyone who has gone through the pre production process.
When planning a film or video project, there are so many steps to keep track of: script breakdowns, storyboards, casting, scheduling, budgeting, and more. Yet almost every filmmaker realizes later that they overlooked something important during pre production.

I am curious to know what that was for you.

What is one part of pre production that you wish you had given more attention to before shooting?
Was it communication with your crew, location planning, time management, or something else entirely?

Sharing your experience could really help new filmmakers and students who are just starting out. Feel free to include a short story or lesson learned from one of your projects.

If you are new to the Student Filmmakers Forums, you are invited to register and join the conversation. We would love to hear your perspective and ideas.
