What is the film language?

Hello everyone,

I’m new to cinematography and I was wondering if someone could explain what film language is and how it relates to cinematography. I’ve heard the term thrown around a lot, but I’m not sure what it means. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I think the film language is a method of narrative expression which helps to develop the plot.
