Hey guys. I’m pretty new to this site, and it seems to be a great place for people like me to gather. I’m a complete newbie to just about everything in the film industry. I’m still in high school and looking into buying my first camera. I’ve already started writing my first short script, with the assistance of my best friend. We’re currently living in different states (I moved away last year) so we’re looking to buy the camera and start shooting sometime this summer when I move back after graduating.
I’m mostly interested in thrillers, action or psychological. Crank and Lucky Number Slevin, for example. But I also like fantasy and sci-fi (hard to find a film in those two categories that isn’t just a $h*tpile of special effects and no story), and some drama films, like Crash. Looking to pursue my career in one of those genres. But for the sake of saving money, going to stick with low-budget thrillers like my current project, ‘Dense’.
Seeing the new Networking section of the site I’m really looking forward to getting to know some other aspiring filmmakers, and hopefully learning more about the art that is film production. My main goal is not only to be a screenwriter, but a director as well. Briefly considered acting (and I do mean briefly, I just don’t have the looks
