Hello,

When shooting in a shaded area with little or no sunlight (like under a large canopy tent or path covered by trees) do are eyes adjust to that level and is it considered key? Would you want to underexpose to make it feel as if it was shade?

Also when you don't have access to HMI's and you want some soft fill will using a CTO on a tugsten light work halfway decent?

Thanks

You mean CTB, not CTO.

Yes, someone in the shade should probably be underexposed to look like they are in the shade, but by how much depends on how much you want them to feel shaded and what percentage of sunlit areas are in the shot. If there is no bright background, you may only want to underexpose a little, if any, but if there are sunlit highlights in the frame or a hot background, you may want to shaded area to look darker in comparison.
